Etymology. The specific name means whip in Portuguese language and refers to the shape of the long, whiplike embolar prolateral process. It is to be treated as a noun in apposition.
Diagnosis. Males of this species differ from all other species of the group by the very long whip-like embolar prolateral process ( Figs 16H View FIGURES 16 , 17A View FIGURES 17 ̅F, 18H̅I). Females resembles those of C. lavras sp. nov. by the shape of the internal genitalia, with rounded receptaculum and narrow and longer lateral apodemes and broad triangular anterior area ( Figs 19I View FIGURES 19 , 22F View FIGURES 22 ); can be distinguished from the last by the lateral apodems being more abruptly narrowed at mid-length and by the abdomen with proportionally shorter postepigastric scutum ( Figs 19B View FIGURES 19 , 22B View FIGURES 22 ).
Description. Male ( PBI _OON 40552). Total Length: 1.75. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace orange-brown, broadly oval in dorsal view, pars cephalica strongly elevated in lateral view, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica granulate, sides granulate; lateral margin without denticles. Clypeus straight in front view, high, ALE separated from edge of carapace by their radius or more, around ALE diameter. Eyes relatively large, all subequal; ALE separated by more than their diameter, PLE-PME separated by less than PME radius. Sternum orange-brown, fused to carapace, furrow wrinkled, surface rugose, microsculpture everywhere but front, anterior margin with interrupted transverse groove, posterior margin not extending posteriorly of coxae IV; setae originating from surface. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium orange-brown. Chelicerae anterior face unmodified; retromargin with one tooth; fangs with row of teeth on fang; paturon inner margin with short inter-digitating setae, laminate groove present. Labium anterior margin indented at middle. Endites anteromedian part forming a groove between serrula and the apical portion. ABDOMEN: pointed posteriorly, narrow; dorsum soft portions pale white. Pedicel scuto-pedicel region unmodified, plumose setae absent. Dorsal scutum orange-brown, middle surface granulate, sides granulate. Epigastric scutum anterior spiracles secondary openings at level of epigastric furrow in an indent. Postepigastric scutum orange-brown, almost semicircular, fused to epigastric scutum, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes, with clear seam at furrow. Spinneret scutum large. LEGS: orange-brown. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore circular, situated at level of anterior spiracles, rebordered. Palp proximal segments orange-brown. Conductor subdistally enlarged, forming a distal cavity bearing two filiform structures. Embolar tip with narrow embolar distal process; embolar prolateral process filiform, very long, at last twice the embolus length ( Figs 16H View FIGURES 16 , 17A View FIGURES 17 ̅F, 18H̅I).
