Type material. Holotype male from, Canas , Guanacaste, Costa Rica, 90m, 9.19335°, -83.40536°, Aug. 15, 1983, J., F. Murphy, 1♂ ( AMNH PBI _ OON 38820) . Paratypes: same data as holotype, 5♂, 11♀ ( AMNH 11386 About AMNH PBI _ OON 36625), Mexico, Vera Cruz : 326 Boca Del Rio, May 27, 1941, F. Bonet, 2♂, 1♀ ( AMNH PBI _ OON 21098) .
Etymology. The specific name refers to the simple embolus and conductor, which do not help distinguishing this species, null (zero) in this regard. It is to be treated as a noun in apposition.
Diagnosis. The species is close to C. puberula comb. rest. and C. longisetosa sp. nov. by the shape of the suprapedicelar region, with downwards directed tooth-like processes ( Figs 32B View FIGURES 32 , 34F, 49G, 51E, 60G, 63H), but can be distinguished from the first by the punctuated rather than grooved microsculpture of sternum ( Figs 31F View FIGURES 31 , 33A View FIGURES 33 , 49F View FIGURES 49 ) and from the last by the absence of a strong ridge connecting the downward directed tooth-like processes ( Fig. 52G View FIGURES 52 , 54G View FIGURES 54 ).
Description. Male ( PBI _OON_0038820). Total Length: 1.76. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace orange-brown, broadly oval in dorsal view, pars cephalica strongly elevated in lateral view, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica granulate, sides granulate; lateral margin without denticles. Clypeus straight in front view, high, ALE separated from edge of carapace by their radius or more, close to one and a half times ALE diameter. Eyes relatively large, all subequal; ALE separated by more than their diameter, PLE-PME separated by less than PME radius. Sternum orange-brown, fused to carapace, furrow with rows of small pits, surface finely punctuate, microsculpture medially and in furrows, anterior margin with continuous transverse groove, posterior margin not extending posteriorly of coxae IV, enlarged hair bases posteriorly; setae originating from surface. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium orange-brown. Chelicerae anterior face unmodified; retromargin without teeth; fangs without tooth-like projections; paturon inner margin with short inter-digitating setae, laminate groove absent. Labium anterior margin indented at middle. Endites: anteromedian part forming a groove between serrula and apical portion. ABDO- MEN: rounded posteriorly; dorsum soft portions pale white. Pedicel scuto-pedicel region with paired curved scutal ridges, plumose setae dorsal and lateral of pedicel, two large downwards directed denticles originating on the main scutal ridges. Dorsal scutum orange-brown, middle surface granulate, sides granulate. Epigastric scutum: anterior spiracles secondary openings at level of epigastric furrow in an indent. Postepigastric scutum orange-brown, almost semicircular, fused to epigastric scutum, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes, with clear seam at furrow. Spinneret scutum large. LEGS: orange-brown. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore circular, situated at level of anterior spiracles, rebordered. Palp proximal segments orange-brown. Conductor narrowing towards end distal tip sharp pointed and bearing a small distal translucent lamella. Embolar tip a very short translucent tube with distinct embolar distal process; embolar prolateral process with distal translucent area serrated dorsally ( Figs 60H View FIGURES 60 , 61A View FIGURES 61 ̅D, 62H̅J).
Female ( PBI _OON 21098). As in male except as noted. Total length1.72. GENITALIA: internal genitalia general shape trapezoidal, with short triangular lateral processes, slightly rounded anterior area, rounded receptaculum and chitinized wall area expanded posteriorly into a lip-like border ( Fig. 63I View FIGURES 63 ).
