Type material. Holotype male from 6 mi W San José del Cabo, 23.04997°, -109.77809°, Bahía Chilena , Baja California Sur, Mexico, Mar. 5, 1987, D. Ubick, deposited in CAS PBI_OON 02972 . Etymology. The specific name refers to the type locality region Baja California Sur. It is to be treated as a noun in apposition.
Diagnosis. The species resembles C. nesophila comb. nov., C. baja sp. nov. and C. laguna sp. nov., but differs from these species by the shape of the male conductor tip, with serrated ventral border ( Figs 58H View FIGURES 58 ; 59A View FIGURES 59 ̅B, D).
Description. Male ( PBI _OON 02972). Total length: 1.73. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace orange-brown, broadly oval in dorsal view, pars cephalica slightly elevated in lateral view, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica granulate, sides granulate; lateral margin without denticles. Clypeus curved downwards in front view, high, ALE separated from edge of carapace by their radius or more, some more as AME diameter (near 1.5). Eyes all subequal; ALE separated by more than their diameter, PLE-PME separated by less than PME radius. Sternum orange-brown, fused to carapace, furrow wrinkled, surface finely punctuate, microsculpture only medially, anterior margin with continuous transverse groove, posterior margin not extending posteriorly of coxae IV; setae originating from surface. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium orange-brown. Chelicerae anterior face unmodified, brush very distal; retromargin without teeth; fangs without tooth-like projections; paturon inner margin with brush, laminate groove absent. Labium anterior margin indented at middle. Endites: anterior median part forming a groove between serrula and the apical portion. ABDOMEN: rounded posteriorly; dorsum soft portions pale white. Book lung covers angular in ventral view. Pedicel scuto-pedicel region with paired curved scutal ridges, plumose setae dorsal and lateral of pedicel, very weak dorsal plumose setae. Dorsal scutum orange-brown, middle surface granulate, sides granulate. Postepigastric scutum orange-brown, almost semicircular, fused to epigastric scutum, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes, with clear seam at furrow. Spinneret scutum large. LEGS: orange-brown. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore circular, situated in front of anterior spiracles, rebordered. Palp proximal segments orange-brown. Conductor narrowing towards end forming a rounded ventral sub-distal portion, distal tip curved downwards and ventrally serrated. Embolar tip a short translucent tube with longer embolar distal process, embolar prolateral process curved dorsally, narrowing at half length and with conspicuous dorsal translucent area ( Figs 58H View FIGURES 58 , 59A View FIGURES 59 ̅D).
