( Fig. 52)

Cosmosoma thia Schaus, 1912: 35 (preoccupied). Unknown number of syntypes: COSTA RICA, Juan Vinas and Sitio (NMNH) [not examined].

Cosmosoma pseudothia Zerny, 1912: 73 ; Draudt, 1915: 83.

Cosmosoma thiacia Hampson, 1914: 160 ; Hampson, 1915: pl. 8, fig. 17; Schaus, 1915: 501 (unnecessary replacement name).

Current combination. Chrostosoma pseudothia ( Zerny, 1912a) , comb. nov.

Remarks. Cosmosoma pseudothia was proposed as the objective replacement name for Cosmosoma thia Schaus, 1912 , a junior primary homonym of Cosmosoma thia Druce, 1899 . It was overlooked by Hampson (1914), who then erected C. thiacia . Schaus (1915) too was unaware of Zerny (1912), and adopted Hampson’s new name. However, Draudt (1915) followed Zerny, and correctly adopted C. pseudothia as the valid name for this taxon.

Cosmosoma thia Schaus was described from an unspecified number of specimens. Hampson (1914) mentioned eight, two males and six females. The collection at the NMNH could not be visited, so the exact number of syntypes is unknown.
