Geographical distribution: Cuba, Puerto Rico, U. S. Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, St. Martin, St. Barthélemy, St. Eustatius, St. Kitts & Nevis, Colombia, Barbados, Curaçao, Bonaire, Grenada, Venezuela, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina.
Distribution in Brazil: Central-West, Southeast, and South regions (MG, MS, SC) ( Drake & Plaumann 1953, 1955; Nieser & Melo 1997; Melo & Nieser 2004).
Comments: This species was recorded from MT by Drake and Plaumann (1953), as “Rio Caraguatá, Matto Grosso,” but such area now belongs to MS, a state created from portions of MT in 1979.
