Geographical distribution: Nicaragua, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Panama, Suriname, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina. Specimens from Central America and North America recorded prior to 1963 correspond to L. medius .
Distribution in Brazil: Northeast, Southeast, and South regions (MT, BA, MG, ES, SP, RJ, PR, SC) (Nieser & Melo 1997; Ribeiro 2005; Perez-Goodwyn 2006).
