Ranatra siolii De Carlo, 1970 View in CoL
Geographical distribution: Brazil.
Distribution in Brazil: North and Central-West regions (PA, AM, MT) ( De Carlo 1970; Nieser 1975).
Comments: This species was described based on specimens from “río Xingú, lago Canay-urá,” a locality that was associated with AM by De Carlo (1970) and Bachmann (1999). The Xingu River flows from MT to PA, and does not run through AM. The term “Canay-urá” probably corresponds to Camaiurá [=Kamayura or Kamayurá], the name of an indigenous tribe which nowadays inhabits the northeastern portion of MT, where the lake on which the type-specimens were collected is probably located.
