Ranatra obscura Montandon, 1907 View in CoL
Geographical distribution: Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Brazil, and Peru.
Distribution in Brazil: North Region (PA) ( De Carlo 1964; Nieser 1975).
Comments: Montandon’s (1907) citation of “Amazonas Superior” probably corresponds to the region of Pebas, Loreto, Peru, as known for other specimens deposited on Stockholm Museum bearing this label. Montandon (1907) mentioned seeing specimens from southern Brazil (SC, RS) that presented some differences in relation to the type-series from French Guiana, which he provisionally assigned to this species. These records are not considered here.
