* Pirenella disjuncta (Sow.) var. quadricincta nov. var. — Sieber 1937: 483, pl. 24, fig. D5.

Type material. Lectotype designated by Švagrovský (1971: 337), NHMW 1847/0037/0094, SL. 24.8 mm, MD: 9.7 mm, Natural History Museum Vienna ( Austria), illustrated in Sieber (1937: pl. 24, fig. D5).

Type locality. Ĥflein ( Austria) .

Stratigraphy. Middle Miocene, Sarmatian (Volhynian).

Discussion. This species was established for specimens of P. disjunctus with a fourth beaded spiral cord close to the abapical suture. This morph always co-occurs with typical specimens and a separation is unjustified.

Central Paratethys. Sarmatian, Volhynian (Middle Miocene): Vienna Basin: Gaweinsthal, Hauskirchen, Hautzendorf, Hobersdorf, Ĥflein ( Austria) ( Sieber 1937); Eisenstadt-Sopron Basin: Mattersburg, St. Margarethen, Wiesen ( Austria) ( Sieber 1937); Cserhát Mountains ( Hungary) ( Boda 1959), Bílovice, Holič, Podivín, Strážnice ( Slovakia) ( Švagrovský 1971).

Eastern Paratethys. Sarmatian, Volhynian (Middle Miocene): Moldavian Platform: Ocheretne (Ternopil Region, Ukraine), Bursuc, Butuceni, Lupăria, MolochiȘul, Severinovca, Zăzuleni ( Moldova) ( Plǎmǎdealǎ 1970; Ionesi 2006); Dacian Basin: Tyrnava, Gradeshnitsa ( Bulgaria) ( Kojumdgieva 1969); Sarmatian, Bessarabian (Late Miocene): Dacian Basin: Şipotele ( Romania) ( Munteanu & Munteanu 1997); Alfatar ( Bulgaria) ( Kojumdgieva 1969).
