COMMENTS: Chapin cited the AMNH number of the holotype in the original description and gave the range of his new subspecies as ‘‘ From the coast of the Cameroon and Gaboon eastward to the Uelle , Ituri , and Manyema districts of the Belgian Congo, southward to Canhoca and Roca Congulu in Ang [o]la, and Tshisika in the southern Kasai District.’’ The following AMNH specimens are paratypes: Congo (Kinshasa), Ituri District , AMNH 161671– 161689 About AMNH , 263800 About AMNH , 263801 About AMNH , 448536 About AMNH , 12 males, three immature males, five females, two immature females ; Lukolela, Congo River , AMNH 297128 About AMNH , juvenile ; Kassai District , AMNH 258618–258625 About AMNH , AMNH 685933– 685941 About AMNH , 10 males and seven females ; Guanza River , Angola, AMNH 685916 About AMNH , male ?; Canhoca , Angola, AMNH 685917–685931 About AMNH , five males, one male juvenile, eight females, one female juvenile ; Gabon, Ogowe River area , AMNH 685942 About AMNH , 685943 About AMNH , 685945–685955 About AMNH , seven males and six females ; Cameroon, AMNH 685956–685958 About AMNH , two males and one female. Most recent authors have placed Anthreptes collaris in the genus Hedydipna . Mann and Cheke (2006: 199–200) noted that the generic name Anthodiaeta has ‘‘position precedence’’ (ICZN, 1999: 73, Recommendation 69A.10), and Cheke and Mann (2008a: 253–254) have used that generic name. However, Wolters (1979: 275) used Hedydipna , listing Antho-
diaeta as a synonym, thus serving as first revisor (ICZN, 1999: 30, Art. 24.2.3).
