Aspidosperma eteanum Markgr. View in CoL in Notizbl.Bot.Gart.Berlin-Dahlem12(113):297.1935.

Lectotype (first-step lectotype designated by Markgraf in Notizbl. Bot. Gart. Berlin-Dahlem 12(115): 558. 1935; second-step lectotype designated here):— BRAZIL. Pará: Almeirim, Serra de Almeirim , 24 Aug 1918, A. Ducke s.n. [A. Ducke [22445]] ( RB [barcode 00535037 !]; isolectotypes: F [fragment] [barcode V0092456F image!], K [barcode K000587701 image!], P [barcode P00645107 image!], S [No. S04-1714 image!], U [barcode U0000473 image!], US [barcode 00111793 image!]) .

Notes — Markgraf (1935b) indicated three gatherings in the protologue of A. eteanum without specifying the typical collection. However, since he cited the gathering “Ducke n. 22445” (Ducke s.n., herbarium RB No. 22445) as “Original der Art.” for A. eteanum in a later publication ( Markgraf 1935a), we understand that Markgraf (1935a) performed the lectotypification. Nevertheless, since this collection has more than one specimen, it was necessary to narrow Markgraf’s (1935a) typification by selecting as the second-step lectotype a specimen from a Brazilian herbarium (RB barcode 00535037) (ICN article 9.17; Turland et al. 2018).
