Remarks. Seventeen adult female specimens were recovered, six of which were somewhat smaller than the others. Six of the larger form had a narrower fused zone in the ocular region compared with the other specimens, but the width of the fused zone can be influenced by the maturity of the specimens (wider in older specimens) ( Wouters 1999). Examination of the type specimens of S. hislopi (numbers 1966.10.17.1–3) clearly demonstrates that they do have numerous septa along the free margins of the valves despite the fact that these were not mentioned in Ferguson’s (1969) original description. This species was generally found at very shallow depths, but one specimen was found at 18 m. Localities ( Fig. 1 ): 12, 25
