Diagnosis. Gonostylus slightly bifurcate apically, sclerotized; m-cu present; two pairs of curved apically truncate projections in the aedeagal complex; ejaculatory apodeme the same length as gonostylus.
Description. Male. Head subcircular in frontal view. Antenna with 13 flagellomeres; scape subcylindrical and pedicel subspherical; flagellomeres pyriform and eccentric; ascoids 1.3 times the length of flagellomere ( Fig. 6A View FIGURES 6 A – F ); 13th flagellomere subcylindrical with terminal apiculus separated by a suture ( Fig. 6C View FIGURES 6 A – F ). Palpus formula 1.0:0.5:0.7 ( Fig. 6B View FIGURES 6 A – F ). Wing. R4+5 with base unsclerotized, r-m unsclerotized and m-cu present ( Fig. 6D View FIGURES 6 A – F ). Male terminalia: Hypandrium and gonocoxites fused, with medial posterior expansion. Arm of gonocoxite pilose with bristles along the medial margin. Gonostylus projected diagonally toward the apex, with slowly bifurcated apex. One pair of curved projections in the aedeagal complex truncated apically. Aedeagus simple ending near the base of the projections in the aedeagal complex. Ejaculatory apodeme the same length as gonostylus ( Fig. 6F View FIGURES 6 A – F ). Epandrium pilose, apically wider than basally. Cercus pilose, subtriangular. Hypoproct with apical micropilosity ( Fig. 6E View FIGURES 6 A – F ).

Material examined. Costa Rica, Puntarenas , Monteverde, Est. Biol. Monteverde, 28. IV–01.V.97, holotype ♂, L.W. Quate ( MZFS).
Etymology. The epithet puntarenas is based on the type locality
