Trichomyia carenata Araújo & Bravo View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 17A–G View FIGURES 17 A – G )

Diagnosis. Apex of Sc unsclerotized; arm of gonocoxite with apical bristles and projections keel-shaped in the posterior margin; three pairs of projections in the aedeagal complex; the inner fused apically, the lateral, slightly thicker; the third pair is half the length than the other two; ejaculatory apodeme long, the same length as the pair of projections in the aedeagal complex parallel to aedeagus.

Description. Male. Head subcircular in frontal view. Antenna incomplete in the studied specimens; scape subcylindrical, pedicel subspherical; flagellomeres pyriform; ascoids 1.4 times as long as the length of flagellomere ( Fig. 17A View FIGURES 17 A – G ). Palpus three segmented; first segment with sensilla in depressed pit on medial surface; palpus formula 1.0:0.7:0.6 ( Fig. 17B View FIGURES 17 A – G ). Wing. apex of Sc unsclerotized; sc-r unsclerotized; R4+5 incomplete at base; M2 with base unsclerotized; M3 not reaching CuA1, r-m and m-cu absent ( Fig. 17D View FIGURES 17 A – G ). Male terminalia: Hypandrium and gonocoxites fused. Posterior arm of gonocoxite with apical bristles, the basal 2.5 times longer than the apical; in the 1/4 apical with projections keel-shaped in the posterior margin ( Figs.17E, 17F View FIGURES 17 A – G ). Gonostylus not visualized. Aedeagal complex with three pairs of projections; the inner fused apically, slender and tapered, almost the same length as the gonocoxite; the lateral, slightly thicker and the same length as the medial; the third pair is half the length than the other two, two times wider than the lateral and ends on a small pointed expansion. Aedeagus with a single opening reaching half the length of the largest projections in the aedeagal complex ( Fig. 17F View FIGURES 17 A – G ). Ejaculatory apodeme as long as the pair of projections in the aedeagal complex parallel to aedeagus. Epandrium subcircular; cercus digitiform, with a row of setae in an expansion on the ventral surface of the apex, about fourteen ( Fig. 17C View FIGURES 17 A – G ). Hypoproct tapering apically with apical micropilosity ( Fig. 17G View FIGURES 17 A – G ).

Female. Unknown.
