Trichomyia elongata Araújo & Bravo View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs. 25A–I View FIGURES 25 A – I )
Diagnosis. R4+5 complete at base; r-m present; arm of gonocoxite directed to midline, apically bifurcated and with a group of elongated bristles in the center; one pair of lanciform projections in the aedeagal complex; aedeagus ending after the apex of projections in the aedeagal complex; ejaculatory apodeme short, 0.5 times the length of medial expansion of gonocoxite; cercus with apical projection with two setae.
Description. Male. Head subcircular in frontal view. Antenna with 13 flagellomeres; scape about the same length as the subspherical pedicel; flagellomeres pyriform, eccentric ( Figs 25A, 25B View FIGURES 25 A – I ); basal ascoids 1.7 times the length of flagellomere ( Fig. 25D View FIGURES 25 A – I ); 13th flagellomere subcylindrical with terminal apiculus separated by a suture ( Fig. 25B View FIGURES 25 A – I ). Palpus with three segments; 1st segment with sensilla in depressed pit on medial surface; palpus formula 1.0:0.9:0.9 ( Fig. 25C View FIGURES 25 A – I ). Wing. R4+5 complete at base; r-m present; m-cu absent ( Fig. 25E View FIGURES 25 A – I ). Male terminalia: Hypandrium fused with gonocoxites with a pair of medial lanciform expansion. Gonocoxites with posterior arm directed to midline, apically bifurcate and with a group of elongated bristles in the center. Gonostylus articulated to gonocoxite at the middle, bare, with apex directed upward ( Fig. 25G View FIGURES 25 A – I ). Projections in the aedeagal complex, one pair, lanciform. Aedeagus ending after the apex of projections in the aedeagal complex ( Fig. 25H View FIGURES 25 A – I ). Ejaculatory apodeme short, 0.5 times the length of medial expansion of gonocoxite. Epandrium pilose, posteriorly wider than anteriorly. Cercus pilose, piriform, with apical elongated projection with two setae ( Figs. 25G, 25I View FIGURES 25 A – I ). Epiproct shorter than hypoproct, both with apical micropilosity ( Fig. 25G View FIGURES 25 A – I ).
Female. Unknown.
Material examined. Brazil, Bahia, Cachoeira, Fazenda Villa Rial, holotype ♂, 24.V.2004, F. Bravo leg. ( MZFS); 1 paratype ♂, same locality, date and collector than holotype ( MZFS).
Etymology. The epithet elongata refers to the elongated apex of cercus. Distribution. Brazil—Bahia.
Remarks. The paratype has M1 and M2 veins fused near the apex ( Fig. 25F View FIGURES 25 A – I ).
