The cursor species-group
Diagnosis. (1) Abdominal tergite III with postspiracular setae, (2) metanotum with 2 long and 1 medium posterolateral setae on each side, and (3) male genitalia without thickened central prolongation of basal apodeme ( Figs 9 View FIGURES 7–11 , 14 View FIGURES 12–16 ).
Here, we record one species of the cursor species-group from Japanese hosts: Strigiphilus cursor ( Burmeister, 1838) . Uchida (1949) recorded specimens of this species as “ Philopterus cursor ” and as “ Philopterus cursor var laticephalus ” (see below).
