( Figures 1 View FIGURE 1 , 98 View FIGURE 98. 1–16 )

Apanteles adoxophyesi Minamikawa, 1954 View in CoL , 26: 35–46. Holotype ♀ —Japan-main [?]. He, 1989: 437.

Redescription. Female. Body length 2.6 mm, fore wing length 2.9 mm.

Head. Transverse in dorsal view, 1.9× as wide as long, slightly narrower than mesoscutum. Vertex between eye and posterior ocellus slightly shiny with shallow puncture. Temple dull with dense and deep punctures, slightly constricted apically. Face nearly 0.9× as high as wide, slightly shiny with coarse and indefinite punctures, inner margin of eyes slightly converged below. Ocelli large, posterior tangent to anterior ocellus transecting posterior ocelli, distance between fore and hind ocellus shorter than diameter of hind ocellus, POL:OD:OOL=4.5:2.3:4.5. Antenna slightly shorter than body length, weakly articulated, penultimate flagellomere 1.4× longer than wide.

Mesosoma. Length:width:height = 43.0:30.0:32.0. Disc of mesonotum slightly shiny, with shallow fine punctures, interspaces between punctures equal in length to diameter of puncture, widely striate-punctation at posterior end of notaulic courses. Scutellar sulcus slightly curved, narrow with carinae in between. Scutellum slightly shiny with sparse, shallow and indefinite punctures, not wide posteriorly, median length slightly shorter than basal width. Lateral polished field of scutellum reaching just over half length of scutellum. Propodeum slightly shiny, shallowly punctate anterio-laterally, areola weakly depressed, V-shaped apically, without costulae, three posterior fields with much short irregular carinae. Mesopleuron highly polished and with sparse, anterior parts dull with dense deep punctures comparing to punctures on disc of mesonotum, indistinctly strigulate on and above sternaulus.

Legs. Hind femur stout, 2.8× longer than wide. Hind coxa slightly shiny, surface rough without punctures. Spines on outer side of hind tibia not dense. Inner spur of hind tibia nearly 2/3 length of hind basitarsus, outer spur 1/3. Basitarsus of hind leg slightly shorter than tarsomeres 2–4 combined. Claws medium size.

Wings. Pterostigma 2.8× as long as its widest part. Vein 1-R1 1.4× longer than pterostigma, nearly closing marginal cell. Vein r arising from middle of pterostigma, nearly perpendicular to pterostigma, 1.2× longer than width of pterostigma, r 1.4× longer than vein 2-SR, strongly angled at junction, 2-M half length of 2-SR, slightly longer than 1-SR, 2-SR+M short than 2-SR and slightly shorter than m-cu. First discal cell of fore wing nearly as wide as high. Second submarginal cell of hind wing 1.3× wider than high. Hind wing wide, vein 1-M distinctly shorter than distance between its distal extremity and apex of vannal lobe. Vannal lobe beyond its widest part concave, without setae.

Metasoma. Slightly shorter than mesosoma (40.0:43.5). T1 relatively short, 2.3× longer than hind width, strongly converged towards apex, weakly concave at basal third, turned-over part more or less dull and rough, with shallow rugose punctures and wrinkles, longitudinal channel distinctly concave, and apical tubercle highly polished and smooth. T2 shiny and smooth, 5.3× wider than long in the middle, weakly curved into T3 apical-medially. T3 2.7× longer than T 2 in the middle. Tergites posterior to T2 highly polished, shiny, and glabrous. Hypopygium produced into a spine, distinctly longer than apex of metasoma. Ovipositor sheath nearly as long as metasoma, 1.2× longer than hind tibia.

Colour. Body black. Tegula dark brown. Palpi and spurs pale yellowish. Antenna and ovipositor sheath dark brown. Labrum and mandible dark brown. All coxae black, fore and mid tibia and all tarsi yellow, basal half of hind tibia and hind tarsus bright yellowish brown, apical half of hind tibia dark brown, all femora black. Wing membrane hyaline, vein 1-R1, C+SC+R, upper border of pterostigma brown, pterostigma, r, 2-SR and 2-M yellowish brown and other alar veins colourless.

Male. Similar to female, except: middle part of pterostigma paler; antenna distinctly longer than body length, penultimate flagellomere 2.3× longer than wide; T2 higher; and legs darker.

Hosts. According to the label, Adoxophyes orana Fischer von Roslerstamm. According to literature, Adoxophyes orana Fischer von Roslerstamm [ Malus pumila , Thea sinensis ], Adoxophyes privatana Walker , Adoxophyes [ Thea sinensis ], Archips breviplicanus Walsingham , Archips fuscocupreanus (Walsingham) , Hedya dimidiana (Clerck) and Rhopobota naevana (Hubner) ( Yu et al. 2016) . Endoparasite. Cocoon is cylindrical 4.0– 4.5 mm long ( He, 1989).
