( Figures 18 View FIGURE 18 , 99 View FIGURE 99. 17–32 )

Apanteles brunnistigma Abdinbekova, 1969: 72–77 View in CoL . Holotype ♀ — Azerbaijan [ZIRAS]. Papp, 1980: 270; Tobias, 1986: 810; Fernandez-Triana, 2014: 65.

Redescription. Female. Body length 1.9 mm, fore wing length 2.3 mm.

Head. Weakly transverse in dorsal view, 1.8× as wide as long, as wide as mesoscutum. Vertex between eye and posterior ocellus shiny with superficial fine puncture. Temple slightly shiny, uneven and nearly unsculptured, broad apically. Face 0.9× as high as wide, slightly shiny with shallow and somewhat confluent punctures, inner margin of eyes subparallel-sided. Ocelli small, posterior tangent to anterior ocellus not touching posterior ocelli, distance between fore and hind ocellus slightly longer than diameter of hind ocellus, POL:OD:OOL=4.0:1.5:4.0. Antenna about as long as body length, closely articulated, penultimate flagellomere 1.3× longer than wide.

Mesosoma. Length:width:height = 34.0:22.5:24.0. Disc of mesonotum slightly shiny, with dense coarse punctures, interspaces between punctures smaller than diameter of puncture, widely striate-punctation at posterior end of notaulic courses, nearly unsculptured along apical margin. Scutellar sulcus straight, narrow with carinae in between. Scutellum shiny and polished. Lateral polished field of scutellum reaching just over half length of scutellum. Propodeum dull, strongly rugose anterio-laterally, areola finely defined, open anteriorly, V-shaped apically, with strong costulae, three posterior fields with some carinae. Mesopleuron shiny, anterior parts dull with dense coarse punctures, weakly rugose laterally.

Legs. Hind coxa shiny, smooth without punctures. Spines on outer side of hind tibia sparse. Inner spur of hind tibia 1/2 length of hind basitarsus, outer spur 1/3. Basitarsus of hind leg distinctly shorter than tarsomeres 2–4 combined. Claws medium size.

Wings. Pterostigma 2.8× as long as its widest part. Vein 1-R1 1.3× longer than pterostigma, 4.6× as long as its distance from apex of marginal cell. Vein r arising from middle of pterostigma, inclined outwards, as long as width of pterostigma, r 1.2× longer than vein 2-SR, strongly angled at junction, 2-M half length of 2-SR, about as long as 1-SR, m-cu as long as 2-SR, 2-SR+M slightly longer than 2-M. First discal cell of fore wing 1.3× wider than high. Second submarginal cell of hind wing nearly as wide as high. Hind wing relatively wide, vein 1-M shorter than distance between its distal extremity and apex of vannal lobe. Vannal lobe beyond its widest part slightly concave, without setae.

Metasoma. Nearly as long as mesosoma. T1 weakly arched laterally, 1.2× longer than hind width, concave at basal third, turned-over part dull, longitudinal channel weakly concave, rugulose laterally, and apical tubercle shiny and polished. T2 4.0× wider than long in the middle, weakly curved into T3 apical-medially. T3 1.6× longer than T2. Tergites posterior to T1 smooth with sparse pubescence. Hypopygium slightly longer than apex of metasoma. Ovipositor sheath narrow, about as long as hind tibia.

Colour. Body black. Tegula dark brown. Palpi more or less yellowish brown, spurs paler. Antenna and ovipositor sheath dark brown. Labrum and mandible dark brown. Leg reddish yellow, except all coxae dark brown to black, most parts of hind femur, apical fifth of hind tibia and most part of hind tarsi brownish. Wing membrane hyaline, vein C+SC+R pale yellowish, 1-R1 and upper border of pterostigma brown, pterostigma, r, 2-SR and 2-M yellowish brown and other alar veins colourless.

Male. Unknown.

Hosts. According to literature, Agonopterix umbellana Fabricius , Aphelia viburnana (Denis & Schiffermuller) , Archips rosana (L.), Depressaria ultimella Stainton , Eucosma catoptrana Rebel and Gynnidomorpha vectisana Humphreys & Westwood ( Yu et al. 2016).
