Diagnosis. Body of adult female normally broadly oval. Antennae each usually with 7 or 8 segments. Legs well developed, translucent pores usually present (rarely absent) on hind coxa. Circulus present or absent. Anterior and posterior ostioles developed. Cerarii numbering 0–17 pairs. Anal lobes developed, each lobe with a ventral, sclerotized anal lobe bar. Anal ring normal, bearing 6 setae. Trilocular pores normal. Multilocular disc pores present, usually confined to venter. Oral collar tubular ducts present on venter, sometimes on dorsum also. Oral rim tubular ducts absent.
