Diagnosis. This species is similar to L. duplex (Dalla Torre) from Japan. It is separated from L. duplex by the IS of mesoscutum generally smooth on medial to posterior area in both sexes (but this character shows considerable variation, not always useful to separate clearly between L. calceatum and L. duplex ) and metasomal terga with enamel-like luster in both sexes. In contrast, L. duplex has IS of mesoscutum generally with distinct tessellation on medial to posterior area and metasomal terga with oily-dull luster in both sexes ( Sakagami & Munakata 1972; Murao & Tadauchi 2007).
Specimens examined. (n = 15) [ South Korea] GW: 13♀, Mt. Gariwang-san , Jeongseon-gun, 30. vii. 2013 (R. Murao, cMur). JJ: 2♀, Mt. Halla-san, alt . 1600–1700 m, 25. vii. 1990 (O. Tadauchi, ELKU).
Distribution. Widely distributed in the Palearctic Region. In eastern Asia, this species is recorded from the following countries: North Korea, South Korea (new record), Mongolia, Russian Far East, China, Japan.
Flight period in South Korea. Female: July. Males have not been recorded from South Korea. In Japan, males are collected from June to September ( Sakagami & Munakata 1972).
Flower records in South Korea. Not recorded.
