( Figs 15, 16 View Figures 9–16 , 23 View Figures 21–24 , 28 View Figures 25–29 )
Crambomorpha splendens Butler, 1877 View in CoL , Transactions of the Entomological Society of London , 1877: 357 (Type locality: [W India, Mumbai] “ Bombay ”)
Type material examined. Lectotype (designated herein) ( Fig. 15 View Figures 9–16 ): male, “ Bombay. | 77–16.” / “ C. splendens | Butler Type” / red ring label “ Type | H.T.” / QR- code label with unique ID “NHMUK010401928” ( NHMUK).
Additional material examined: series of both sexes from West and South India ( MWM / ZSM and NHMUK).
Notes. (1) The species was described without the sex and number of specimens being mentioned ( Butler 1877). In order to stabilise the nomenclature, the male “Type” specimen deposited in the NHMUK is herein designated as the lectotype. (2) Similar to some other congeners, the species is significantly variable in its size (the forewing length is 19.0–25.5 mm in males and 23.0–27.5 mm in females).
Distribution. West and South India ( Butler 1877; Hampson 1900).
