Diagnosis. H. germanica differs from congeners by some gonopodal structures, viz., 1) absence of anterior lateral process (vs. developed in H. cyanopida , H. lacusnigri , H. intermedia , H. microcorna , H. makarovi sp. nov., and H. plasana ), 2) absence of the distal notch of the posterior lamella (vs. presence in H. flavescens and H. hungarica ), 3) mesal process saw-like, strongly denticulated (vs. mesal process knife-like with posterobasal tooth in H. vidinensis or with denticulated anterodistal lobe in H. fonticulorum ), 4) posterior lamella simple, ear-shaped, bent down in an extensions and with distolateral thickening (vs. posterior lamella rounded, not bent down into an extension and without distolateral thickening in H. pretneri and H. musimontium or posterior lamella bilobed in H. filicis , H. fau- cium, H. inflata and H. gruberi sp. nov.).

Type locality. Bohemian Forest .
Comments. One of the two males in Latzel’s type series of Craspedosoma flavescens housed in NHMW (see Wirkner et al. 2002: 13) is H. germanica .
None of the gonopod structures mounted in the slide preparations from ZMB collection corresponded to the drawings of the original description of the species thus our choice of lectotype from the well preserved and complete type specimens housed in NHMW.
Attems (1949: 129; 1954: 311) misidentified two males from Kremsmauer, two males and two females from Almkogelgipfel, one male from Oberlaussa, four males, 2 females and one juvenile from Pleschberg and one male from Ennstal, Admont as Orobainosoma flavescens . Also, there are two vials with Attems’s wrong identification from Leichenberg, Admont ( O. flavescens ) and Jauerling ( O. flavescens pinivagum ); those are probably never published.
Records of H. germanica in Czech Republic from Lang (1967, 1971) should be taken with reserve, since it is possible that these are misidentifications (Dolejš, pers. comm.). The record of H. germanica from Romania ( Ceuca 1979) is quite remote, completely outside the distribution area of the species and should be considered with caution. These localities are marked in the map with question marks.
