Type species. Kolenohelea dycei de Meillon and Wirth, 1981 ; by original designation.

Diagnosis. Stout and black species. Antennal flagellum without sensilla coeloconica; katepisternum bare. Legs stout, unarmed, hind femur swollen; palisade setae on first tarsomere of hind leg in a single row; female claws strong and unequal on all legs. Wing with two radial cells. Female with one or two seminal capsules. Apicolateral processes of tergite IX in male genitalia very long (de Meillon & Wirth 1991). This small genus includes 18 species reported from the Palaearctic and Afrotropical Regions ( Borkent 2015).
