Comments. This is a common species in Tunisia, found in both stagnant water and slowly flowing rivers with muddy bottoms and rich in aquatic vegetation, at elevations up to 380 meter asl. It was first recorded from Tunisia by Ferrari (1884) under the name of Corixa hieroglyphica Dufour.
Distribution. It occurs in the Palearctic Region, extending to India and tropical Africa ( Jansson 1995; Carapezza 1997; Aukema et al. 2013).
