Uroderma magnirostrum Davis 1968 View in CoL
Distribution. From Mexico southward French Guiana, Surinam, and Colombia to Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay, northern Argentina, and Brazil. This species have been in almost all Brazil, including the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Pará, Paraná, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo ( Nogueira et al. 2003; Peracchi et al. 2006; Gardner 2008). Most of these records are from Amazon and some sporadic records from the Cerrado, Caatinga, and Atlantic Rainforest biomes ( Nogueira et al. 2003). The record for the Cerrado is from the state of Mato Grosso (figure 1 in Nogueira et al. 2003), adjacent to the states of Tocantins and Goiás. Fracasso and Salles (2005) found fossil remains in limestone caves in Serra da Mesa, northern state of Goiás.
Habitat. Uroderma magnirostrum is locally rare and little is known about its biology. Few reports found this species associated with humid lowland areas, occurring in yards, pastures, archers, and croplands ( Nogueira et al. 2003). This species tents with banana and palm leafs ( Peracchi et al. 2006). The only individual caught by us was captured in a pasture field near to limestone outcrops (14° 30’ 25.4” S, 46° 43’ 51.5” W) in Alvorada do Norte, GO.
Voucher specimen. One female – CHUNB 1278.
