Genus Dougaloplus A.M. Clark, 1970

Species of Dougaloplus reported in the eastern Pacific were originally described in the genera Amphiura and Ophiocnida (Lütken & Mortensen 1899; McClendon 1909) and subsequently transferred to Amphiacantha , a preoccupied genus, by Matsumoto (1917). Consequently, A.M. Clark (1970) proposed the replacement name Dougaloplus for the genus. Some authors have described a few characteristics of Dougaloplus (e.g., disc covered with scales and spines, 1‒2 tentacle scales, 3‒6 arm spines; Matsumoto 1917; A.M. Clark 1970); however, a proper diagnosis of the genus is lacking so far.
