Bolbochromus (Bolbochromus) celebensis Boucomont, 1914

Identification. Until now Bolbochromus celebensis was thought easily recognisable from the presence of 5 instead of 7 striae between the suture and the humeral umbone, but the new relative B. dumogensis , also occurring on Sulawesi and described hereafter, shares this attribute with B. celebensis . Compared to B. dumogensis this species has (in full-face view) small eye foramina, due to its relatively broad, covering eye canthi. Interocular part of frons with median tubercle, its tip usually slightly bifid. General colour of pronotum and elytra varying from largely glossy yellow-brown (or orange) to black, and several individuals with symmetric (moderately delimited) patterns between these extremes; as in other species, particular colour morphs may be locally predominant. Anterolateral angle of pronotum (full-face view) shortly rounded, subangular (much more widely rounded in B. dumogensis , compare Figs. 45–46 , and note also differences in punctation). Body length of B. celebensis usually 7–11 mm.

Comment. Numerous specimens, all unicolour black, collected in flight interception traps by J. Huijbregts, in the Dumoga-Bone region.

Distribution. Indonesia: Sulawesi, possibly widespread.
