DISTRIBUTION. — Widespread, occurring in China (Guangxi),

Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia,

Sumatra, Borneo, Java and the Philippines ( Fig. 29 View FIG ).

ECOLOGY OR HABITAT. — Primary or secondary forest, along road-

sides, stunted forest, savannah, river banks, limestone hills, to 850 m.

CONSERVATION STATUS. — IUCN Global Status: Least Concern

( LC); IUCN Regional (Indochina) Status: Least Concern ( LC). PHENOLOGY. — Flowering: December to June. Fruiting: January, March.

USES. — The fruits is edible; consumed fresh or cooked. The wood is used in construction.

Tree to 10 m tall. Bark flaky. Glabrous.
