Scapteriscus Scudder, 1868: 385 . Type species: Gryllotalpa oxydactyla Perty, 1832 .
Diagnosis. Distinguished from Indioscaptor by the presence of sharp apical tooth or blade-like carina on the ventral margin of the protrochanteral process and only six metatibial spurs (three medial and three lateral) in contrast to the seven or eight spurs found in Indioscaptor .
