Gagea rigida Boiss. & Spruner View in CoL in Boiss., Diagn. Pl. Orient. 7: 108 (1846)
≡ Ornithogalum rigidum Boiss. & Spruner in Boiss., Diagn. Pl. Orient. 7: 109 (1846) ≡ Stellaster rigidus (Boiss. & Spruner) Kuntze, Revis. Gen. Pl. View in CoL 2: 716 (1891) ≡ Gagea reticulata var. fibrosa Boiss., Fl. Orient. 5: 208 (1882) ≡ Gagea reticulata subsp. rigida (Boiss. & Spruner) K.Richt., Pl. Eur. View in CoL 1: 198 (1890) = Gagea rhodiaca A.Terracc., Boll. Soc. Orto Palermo, II View in CoL , 3: 7 (1904) = Gagea procera Mouterde, Fl. Djebel Druze View in CoL : 71 (1953).
Type (lectotype designated by Levichev & Tison 2004b: 315): — GREECE. Acrocorinthi declivitatis, March 1842, Boissier s.n. (G- BOIS!).
Specimens seen: — TURKEY. Gaziantep: Dülükbaba, 7 km N of Gaziantep, rocky limestone slopes, c. 1100 m, 13 May 1957, Davis 28046 & Hedge ( ANK!, E!) ; Osmaniye road, Dülükbaba ruins, rocky places, 1113 m, 13 March 2013, M. Tekşen 2891 & S. Karaman ( GAZI!) ; Içel: Kuzucubelen-Kuzucu , 10 March 1971, T. Uslu 1182 ( E!) ; Konya: Konya- Seydişehir, 25 km to Şeydişehir , stony slopes, 1419 m, 1 March 2011, M. Tekşen 2865 & S. Karaman ( AKSU!) .
Flowering time: — February–May.
Habitat: — Steppe, roadsides, stony places, 1100–1500 m.
Distribution: — Irano-Turanian element. Turkey (Central and South Anatolia), Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Sinai, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Cyprus, Egypt ( Govaerts 2015).
Note: — Rix (1984) gave G. rigida as a synonym of G. fibrosa . G. rigida is distinct from other sect. Platyspermum species by having flat basal leaves with linear-arranged vascular bundles and subcylindrical peduncles ( Levichev & Tison 2004a, 2004b, Tison 2004, Peruzzi 2006). The collected and diagnosed samples which were identicated above were determined to be G. rigida . There are no samples previously identified as G. rigida . In light of these data, we confirm that G. rigida occurs in Turkey.
Sect. Plecostigma (Turcz.) Pascher, Lotos View in CoL 24: 116 (1904) ≡ Plecostigma Turcz. in Trautv. Descr. Fl. Russ. Pl. Imag. 8 (1844)
Type (lectotype designated by Levichev 1990a: 232): — G. pauciflora (Turcz. ex Trautv.) Ledeb.
In Turkey, sect. Plecostigma is represented by three taxa.
