Flowering time: — March–June.

Habitat: — Steppe, roadsides, arable fields, rocky and stony places, 50–2200 m.

Distribution: — Irano-Turanian element. Turkey (Central, East, and South Anatolia), North Africa, from East Europe to Central Asia ( Govaerts 2015).

Note: — Gagea reticulata can be easily distinguished from other species by having 0.5–8 cm multilayered, tubular, reticulate neck sometimes extending to inflorescence, and having 5-angled and curved basal leaves. The neck which grows up to 25 mm in G. alexeenkoana and 30 mm in G. communata is seen less frequently and displays splitting at the top.
