Otostigmus armatus Attems, 1953 View in CoL
Otostigmus armatus Attems, 1954: 146 View in CoL , fig. 15. Laos. Otostigmus armatus: Lewis, 2004: 27 View in CoL , figs 1–7.
Remarks. Lewis (2004) examined three of Attems’ specimens from Laos and found two to be O. multidens Haase, 1887 and the third probably O. scaber Porat, 1876 . He was unable to examine a further two specimens in the collection of the Naturhistorisches Museum in Vienna as they were too delicate to transport by post. He noted that these specimens might be the ones on which Attems based his description of armatus but that the problem could not then be resolved. On the advice of Sandro Minelli I here designate Lewis’s (2004) O. armatus specimen 1 (an O. multidens ) the lectotype to resolve the problem. The specimen has been removed to a separate tube and so labelled by Verena Stagl. Otostigmus armatus then becomes a junior subjective synonym of O. multidens .
