Cephennomicrus crucifer View in CoL sp. n.

( Figs. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 , 8, 9 View FIGURES 6 – 9 , 13 View FIGURES 10 – 14 )

Type material. Holotype: TAIWAN: 3, " Taiwan, Fenshuiling, Manchou Hsiang, Pingtung Hsien, 25–30 III 2004, F.I.T., Tomoyuki TSURU leg." (white, printed) ( NSMT).

Diagnosis. Aedeagus with X-shaped internal armature composed of very broad, C-shaped lateral arms connected in middle and accompanied at each external side by an additional very narrow, indistinct sclerite.

Description. BL 1.05. Body of male ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) relatively light brown, covered with yellowish vestiture.

Head large, HL 0.15, HW 0.26; shape, punctation and vestiture as those in C. inflatus . Antennae long and very slender, AnL 0.52, antennomere I large, slightly flattened dorso-ventrally, about 1.5x as long as broad at base; II much narrower and slightly shorter than I, about 1.6x as long as broad; III–IV equal in length and width, much narrower than II, each about 1.4x as long as broad; V–VI as narrow as III–IV but each slightly longer, about 1.7x as long as broad; VII slightly longer and broader than VI, about 1.6x as long as broad; VIII slightly shorter and minimally narrower than VII, about 1.3x as long as broad; IX longer and broader than VIII, about 1.6x as long as broad; X broader and longer than IX, about 1.2x as long as broad; XI slightly broader and much longer than X, about 2.3x as long as broad.

Pronotum subquadrate in shape, broadest near anterior third, PL 0.30, PW 0.40; anterior margin broadly, weakly rounded; sides strongly rounded in anterior third, nearly straight in posterior 2/3, distinctly convergent toward blunt and obtuse hind angles; posterior margin weakly arcuate; base of pronotum with relatively deep and distinct transverse groove connecting pair of very small but distinct lateral pits, additional small pit is located near each hind angle; median longitudinal groove narrow, running from transverse groove nearly to anterior margin of pronotum. Punctation of disc very fine, very dense, moderately sharply marked punctures are very small but well discernible under magnification 40x; setation dense and relatively long, slightly suberect.

Elytra oval and elongate, broadest distinctly anterior to middle, EL 0.60, EW 0.52, EI 1.15; basal pit on each elytron very indistinct; humeral calli well marked; apices of elytra separately rounded. Punctation similar to that on pronotum but punctures are slightly sparser and slightly less distinct; setation slightly sparser and more suberect than that on pronotum. Hind wings well developed.

Legs slender and long, pro- and metatibiae straight, mesotibiae very slightly recurved.

Metaventrite very weakly impressed in its posterior part between coxae.

Aedeagus ( Figs. 8, 9 View FIGURES 6 – 9 , 13 View FIGURES 10 – 14 ) in ventral view oval, AeL 0.25, base broad and rounded, apex of ventral wall broadly rounded, apex of dorsal wall protruded, narrow and also rounded; internal structures ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 10 – 14 ) located in apical third of median lobe, generally X-shaped, composed of pair of long and broad C-shaped sclerites with blunt apices connected in middle and accompanied at external sides by pair of very narrow, long and relatively indistinct sclerites. Parameres long but not exceeding apex of median lobe, with broadened apices, each with three setae located along apical margin of expanded apex.

Female unknown.

Distribution. Southern Taiwan, Pingtung County.

Etymology. The name refers to X- or cross-shaped structures found in the internal armature of the aedeagus; after Latin " crux " (a cross), and Latinized Greek " phoreus " (a carrier, bearer).

Remarks. See remarks for C. inflatus .
