HOLOTYPE: AMNH 220057 View Materials , male, collected on Shortland Island , 07.05S, 155.45E (Times Atlas), Solomon Islands, on 13 December 1927, by Rollo H. Beck on the Whitney South Sea Expedition (no. 29941). GoogleMaps

COMMENTS: The AMNH number of the holotype was cited in the original description and the range was given as Shortland, Choiseul, Bougainville, and Buka islands. Paratypes are: Choiseul Island , males, AMNH 220050–220054 View Materials , females, AMNH 220055 View Materials , 220056 View Materials , 221931–221933 View Materials ; Shortland Island , males, AMNH 220058–220073 View Materials , females, AMNH 220074–220080 View Materials ; Bougainville Island , males, AMNH 221934–221950 View Materials , females, AMNH 221951–221959 View Materials ; Buka Island , males, AMNH 221960 View Materials , 221961 View Materials , females, AMNH 221962–221964 View Materials . Of these, the following were exchanged: AMNH 220064 View Materials and 220080 to CM ; AMNH 220067 View Materials and 220071 to NRM ; AMNH 221939 View Materials to ANSP, AMNH 221946 View Materials to ZIN. Mayr and Diamond (2001: 396) did not recognize exiguus, synonymizing it with the nominate subspecies.
