Fore wing ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 42 – 46 ) with areolet petiolate above; cu-a varying from basad Rs&M by 1/6 of cu-a length to distad Rs&M by 1/8 of cu-a length, slightly curved or straight, vertical or slightly reclivous; hind wing ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 42 – 46 ) with 5–9 distal hamuli; nervellar index 0.3–0.5.
Metasoma with 1st tergum 2.1–2.6 times as long as apical width and 1.5–1.7 times as long as 2nd; male subgenital plate ( Fig. 50 View FIGURES 47 – 52 ) short with apical margin slightly convex; paramere ( Fig. 51 View FIGURES 47 – 52 ) subelliptic, ventral and dorsal parts of apical margin slightly emarginate; digitus with dorso-apical corner rounded off and with ventroapical corner with 2–3 teeth; membrane of median surface without papillae; pad large and subtriangular, situated at apical 1/3 of paramere; median subapical sclerotized plate not produced to form an overhang; penis valve ( Fig. 52 View FIGURES 47 – 52 ) slightly broadened toward apex and weakly curved; basal apodeme of aedeagus strongly curved; ovipositor as long as apical depth of metasoma.
Head yellow; occiput brownish-yellow; antenna reddish-yellow. Mesosoma yellow to brownish-yellow; in some specimens, mesoscutum with brownish-yellow to brown stripes on each of median and lateral lobes; scutellum and dorsal portion of propodeum brownish. Wings hyaline; vein C and pterostigma of fore wing brownish-yellow; hind tarsus whitish-yellow. Metasoma brownish-yellow to reddish-brown.
♀. Not examined.
Length of fore wing: 7.4–10.2 mm.

Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu), across the Holarctic region. Remarks. Townes (1938) placed this species in the virgata group. However, latungula is different from virgata in the absences of overhang and strip of minutely papillate cuticle on the mesal surface of paramere, and shares the shape of the digitus with virgata and kiuhabona . Thus, this species can not be assigned to any species group.
