Korea: 1♀, Choanji, 3. viii. 1924 (T. Kurisue), recorded as Parabatus virgatus by Uchida (1928), SEHU.

Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu), Korea.

Etymology. The specific name is based on the darker coloration of dorsal portions of the meso- and metasoma.

Remarks. This new species resembles the moderately pigmented specimens of N. (B.) virgata in coloration, but easily distinguished from it by the vertex which is subangularly rounded off in dorsal view, the short lateral carina of scutellum and the presence of propodeal crest. Nigridorsalis shares the shape of vertex with kiuhabona , and the shape of digitus and the small hairs on lamina volsellaris with cristata . However, the presence of overhang, strip of minutely papillate cuticle and the membranous pad are shared with virgata . Thus, this species is thought to be a member of the virgata group.
