Type species: Cloe tristis Hagen 1858 .
Diagnosis: Larva. Tergalii II–VI (5 pairs) present; tergalii III–V with ventral lobe and with cleft on dorsal lobe; tergalius VI normally without ventral lobe and without cleft on dorsal lobe ( Fig. 1E View FIGURE 1 ); individual tergalius can bear vestigial ventral lobe.
Differs from all other subgenera by retention of tergalii VI.
Winged stages. Traces of tergalii bases on abdominal segments II–VI.
Nominal species included. SRI LANKA: T. (T.) tristis ( Hagen 1858) ; T. (T.) major Eaton 1885 ; T. (T.) insignis ( Wang & McCafferty 1996) ; T. (T.) tuberculatus Sartori in Sartori et al. 2008. INDIA: T. (T.) dentata Navás 1932 ; T. (T.) sartorii Selvakumar et al. in Selvakumar et al. 2014; T. (T.) kodai Sartori in Sartori et al. 2008; T. (T.) barathyae Sivaruban et al. in Martynov et al. 2022; revision of the Indian species is given in a separate paper ( Kluge et al. 2023).
