Record as epibiont on ostracods: This species was cited as Vorticella crassicaulis epibiont on abdominal appendages of ostracods from Germany ( Nenninger 1948; Morado & Small 1995; Mayén-Estrada & Utz 2018).
Record as epibiont on other hosts: on fresh water isopod Asellus (Asellus) aquaticus (Linnaeus, 1758) (cited as Asellus aquaticus ) from Hungary; on amphipods Dikerogammarus haemobaphes (Eichwald, 1841) (cited as Dicerogammarus haemobaphes balatonicus) from Hungary, and on Gammarus tigrinus from the Netherlands ( Mayén-Estrada & Utz 2018).
