Derivation of speci W c epithet
This new species is named for the presence of a narrow, rufous sutural stripe along the otherwise piceous elytra.
Diagnosis, adult
This species may be separated from its congeners by the following diagnostic combination: frons with short, deep furrows along inner margins of eyes; elytra piceous with narrow, rufous sutural margin.
Description, adult
Characters of Physiomorphus , with the following speci®c features: Body moderately wide (TL/GEW 1.94±2.06), slightly ovate. Head moderately wide ( GHW /HL 1.06±1.10); scape moderately long, slightly widened distally; antennomere 2 moniliform, more than half length of scape; antennomere 3 ®liform; antennomeres 4±10 moniliform, 7±10 slightly serrated; antennomere 11 narrowed distal of midlength, without distinct cleft; last maxillary palpomere expanded, slightly cultriform. Pronotum moderately transverse ( GPW /PL 1.34±1.44), slightly to moderately wider than head ( GPW /GHW 1.11±1.22); lateral margins of disc straight to slightly sinuate anteriorly to midlength; anteriorly, straight to slightly arcuate to anterior margin; discal depressions relatively small and deep, well-de®ned; punctation dense and coarse, not umbilicate; setation sparse. Elytra moderately convex, with very slight suggestions of multiple, longitudinal costae; vestiture moderately long and dense, not obscuring coarse, dense punctation; apical binding patch slightly conspicuous dorsally. Abdomen. Sexual setae relatively short, reddish, directed posteriorly at about 30ss angle; male genitalia with paramere with moderately deep sinuation near apex, beginning in distal third. Colour. Base of head, antennae and maxillary palpi piceous to black; frons rufous to rufopiceous; ventral mouthparts rufous; pronotum rufotestaceous with median infuscated region (absent in one specimen examined); elytral disc piceous with narrow sutural and lateral marginal lighter stripe, sutural stripe appearing almost white; legs piceous except base of tibiae lighter in some specimens.
