( Figs. 5, 11 View FIGURES 1 – 12 , 17 View FIGURES 13 – 18 , 28–30 View FIGURES 28 – 30 )
Diagnosis. Head rather longer than broad in dorsal view; interfrontals outside frontal triangle; gena very short; long axis of eye almost vertical; scutum twice as long as broad, lateral stripes almost separated into separate anterior and posterior maculae; post–pronotum with a brown spot and three bristles.
Material examined. Holotype: 3, Brazil, State of São Paulo, C. Jordão, 28.ix.1962, L.T.F., Papavero, Rabello, L. Silva & Zanettin. Paratype. 1 3, same data as holotype ( MZUSP).
Description. Total length, 5.5 mm. Wing length, 3.7 mm.
Male. Head ( Figs. 5, 11 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Head dark yellow, as wide as thorax, rather longer than broad in dorsal view, wider than high in lateral view; frontal triangle brown, margins at most gently curved, reaching anterior margin of frons; occiput with fine setulae; gena very short, postgena about 0.65 of eye height; eye rounded, long axis almost vertical; clypeus yellow; labella yellow, reduced; palpus yellow. First flagellomere dark yellow, with a pale brown area at apex; arista light brown; one row of interfrontals external to frontal triangle; postocellars convergent; outer vertical bristle well–developed (inner vertical cannot be seen in the only known specimen); one row of setulae at lower margin of gena, vibrissa thin. Thorax ( Figs. 17 View FIGURES 13 – 18 , 28 View FIGURES 28 – 30 ). Scutum twice longer than broad, mostly yellow, with five dark brown stripes with dark pilosity; scutellum yellow. Pleura dark yellow, post–pronotum with a small brown mark and three bristles; a brownish marking on notopleuron. Halter dark entirely yellow. Legs dark yellow, hind tibia light browndistal half of tarsi dark brown; tibial organ light brown, elongated. Wing. Hyaline. Costal sections one to four: 13-14-7-3. R2+3 and R4+5 slightly concave; R4+5 and M1+2 rather divergent; M1+2 apex curved downward; r-m and dm-cu paralell, distant each other 2.15 as long as dm-cu. Abdomen ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 28 – 30 ). Tergites and sternites brown, lighter in distal segments of abdomen. Terminalia. Epandrium with a short projection, surstylus hook-like, fused to epandrium; mesolobus rectangular ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 28 – 30 ). Hypandrium broad ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 28 – 30 ).
Female. Unknown.
Comments. The MZUSP collection has a third specimen with a label with the same data as the holotype and paratype, but the abdomen in this specimen is missing. It is not possible to be sure about the gender of the specimen and we preferred not to include this specimen in the type –series—even though it looks conspecific with the holotype.
