Melia parasitica Osbeck, Dagb. Ostind. Resa : 278. 1757 ≡ Dysoxylum parasiticum (Osbeck) Kosterm. in Reinwardtia 7: 247. 1966 – Holotype: Indonesia, Java, Pulau Peucang, Osbeck s.n. (S No. 09-32222; isotypes: BO fragm., LINN).

Distribution. – Sumatra and Peninsular Malaysia to Taiwan, NE Australia and Solomon Is.

Note. – The oldest available specific epithet reflects European unfamiliarity with cauliflory, Linnaeus’ s pupil, Pehr Osbeck, considering the inflorescences to be parasites on the trunk of a tree ( Mabberley, 1992: 2).
