Diagnosis. Palps not more than 4 times longer than wide. Antero-lateral setae numerous (40–85 pairs). Setae dm1 tapered or apically expanded. Setae dm3 absent. Peripheral setae filiform and smooth and arranged in 1 row, and gap between median and lateral peripheral setae present. Genital series represented by 2–4 pairs of setae g, pseudanal series by 3 or 4 pairs of setae ps. Setae ps1 and ps2 apically expanded or paddle-shaped; ps3 and ps4 tapered, apically expanded or paddle-shaped.

Included species. Pterygosoma annectans Jack, 1962 , Pterygosoma circularis Jack, 1962 , Pterygosoma fimbriata Lawrence, 1951 , Pterygosoma fragilis Fajfer, 2013 Pterygosoma garissi Fajfer, 2013 , Pterygosoma problematica Jack, 1962 .

Distribution. These mites are found in central part of the Afrotropic ecozone.

Host range. This group is found on lizards of the genus Agama and Acanthocercus (Agamidae) .
