Diagnosis: This species is distinguished by the black or redbrown color, small size (less than 2 mm), and convex elytral declivity with a row of long setae in interstriae 1, 3, 5, and 7. Females have a glabrous frons with a margin of incurved setae. Corthylus papulans Eichoff ( Coleoptera : Curculionidae ), present in southeastern USA, can be distinguished by its larger size, and small granules on the declivity.

Distribution: Caribbean: Cuba (Santiago Province), Dominica, Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico.
