Subfamily Cicadinae Batsch, 1789 View in CoL
Diagnosis. Members of the subfamily are characterized by the metanotum being completely concealed along the dorsal midline, males with timbal covers present, a well developed pygofer distal shoulder, a rectractable uncus of moderate length, claspers are absent, and the aedeagus is restrained below the uncus ( Marshall et al. 2018).
