Type species. Tympanoterpes colombiae Distant 1892a: 60 View in CoL ( Manaure and Bogota, Colombia and Venezuela).

Diagnosis. The genus Ariasa can be distinguished from the other Guyalnina genera in the Lesser Antilles by the eyes not being stylate and extended anteriorly, the head is wider than mesonotum with eyes projecting beyond the anterior angles of the pronotum, the angled radial crossvein, the triangular male opercula, the lateral sides of the abdomen expand from the base, the timbal covers have a curved anterior apex, and the posteriorly extending median uncus lobes ( Sanborn 2016a).
