Diagnosis. The species is a small to medium sized species that is green marked with piceous and castaneous. The markings on the head and thorax distinguish it from most species of the genus as well as the other species found in the Lesser Antilles. It is the larger of the two Trinidadian species of Herrera with body lengths of 16.5–20.0 mm and fore wing length 20.0– 22.3 mm and lacks the piceous opercula and luteous patches on the anterior and posterior abdomen found in Herrera nigropercula on Trinidad. The more intense castaneous and piceous markings on Herrera castaneanigricula n. sp. distinguish it quickly. The larger body size and piceous and tawny markings distinguish Herrera acclivis n. comb. and the reduced markings quickly distinguish Herrera martiniquensis n. comb. The male genitalia will also distinguish all species.
Distribution. The species is currently known only from Trinidad ( Sanborn 2020a).
