Leptotrombidium (Leptotrombidium) paradux Vercammen-Grandjean and Langston, 1976: 575 , pl. 158; Fernandes & Kulkarni 2003: 148.

Leptotrombidium montanum Stekolnikov, 2004: 393 , figs. 3, 4, syn. nov.

Diagnosis. fPp = N/N/BNN; Pc = 3; Gn = 2; fSc: PL> AM> AL; SB-PL; fCx = 1.1.1; fSt = 2.2; fD = 2H-[10-8]- 12-10-10-8-4-2; DS = 66; VS = 50; NDV = 116; Ip = 892–960; AW 84–88, PW 90–98, SB 40–42, ASB 30–32, PSB 16–19, SD 46–50, AP 26–30, AM 50–63, AL 42–51, PL 63–72, S 82–90, H 61–71, D min 42–47, D max 58–66, V min 33–40, V max 50–56, pa 308–330, pm 262–296, pp 316–334.

L. montanum : fD = 2H-16-10-13-9-4; DS = 46–64; VS = 41–56; NDV = 89–114; Ip = 851–979; AW 75–90, PW 88–101, SB 36–46, ASB 28–39, PSB 16–21, SD 45–58, AP 21–35, AM 54–72, AL 38–54, PL 55–75, S 72– 88, H 56–76, D min 34–51, D max 55–76, V min 31–35, V max 50–62, pa 290–344, pm 261–304, pp 295–344. Standard measurements of geographic forms are given in Table 10.

Type material (not examined). Holotype of L. paradux (No 10131) and 10 paratypes larvae from Murinae gen. sp. (“mouse”), INDIA: Jammu and Kashmir State, Baltal , 28 October 1945, coll. S. L. Kalra. Type series is deposited in SAM.

Material examined. Holotype of L. montanum (No 4321, Т-Тr.-26) from Chionomys gud (Satunin) , RUSSIA: Dagestan, Akhtynsky District, Khnov, 21 June 1988, coll. A. B. Shatrov. Paratypes: 15 larvae from Ch. gud , Apodemus (Sylvaemus) sp., and Microtus sp. , 21–22 June 1988, other data same. Type series is deposited in ZIN.

Remarks. L. montanum differs from L. paradux in less numerous idiosomal setae only (DS = 46–64 vs. 66 and NDV = 89–114 vs. 116). With regard to strong size variation observed in L. montanum , it is evident, that L. paradux from its type locality represents a boundary variant of the setae number within the same species.
