Maldonado (1990) listed B. decolor ( Walker, 1873) as a valid species, although Carpintero (1980) had synonymyzed it some years before with B. rubrum . Wygodzinsky (1951) had previously considered them as separate species due to differences in coloration, but Carpintero (1980) demonstrated that those were in fact intraspecific variations. Gil Santana et al. (2005) studied the male genitalia of this species. B. rubrum has been recorded from Surinam, Guyana, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil ( Maldonado 1990; Dougherty 1995; GilSantana et al. 2005). The specimens listed below are new records from Colombia ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 9 ) where the species, until now, has only been found in the eastern savannas.
