Ctenitis refulgens (Klotzsch ex Mett.) C.Chr. ex Vareschi, Fl. View in CoL Venezuela 1: 404. 1969.

= Dryopteris refulgens (Klotzsch ex Mett.) C.Chr., Index Fil. 288. 1905.

Range: —Southern Mexico to Guianas, Ecuador, Peru, Amazonian Brazil, and Bolivia (BE, LP, PA).

Ecology: —Rare; terrestrial in and at the edge of humid lowland forests; to 200–300 m.

Notes: —Two of the three Bolivian specimens seen (Jiménez 1954, UC; Weigelt et al. 90254, UC), from BE and PA, have been determined by Viveros et al. (2018) as var. refulgens ; the Jiménez collection is very atypical in the large (to 3 × 1 cm), crenulate pinnules. A third gathering, Krömer et al. 50, UC, from LP, was identified as var. peruviana (C.Chr.) R.S.Viveros & Salino. Variety peruviana differs from the typical variety by the pinnae incised 1/4–1/3 of the distance between the segment apex and costa (vs. incised 1/2–2/3), and by darker (castaneous) and lanceolate scales on costa abaxially (vs. scales abaxially light-castaneous and linear).
