Arachniodes ochropteroides (Baker) Lellinger, Amer. Fern J. View in CoL 77(3): 101. 1987.
= Dryopteris ochropteroides (Baker) C.Chr., Index Filic. 280. 1905.
Range: — Jamaica; Panama; Venezuela, Guyana and Surinam; Andes from Colombia to Bolivia (CO, LP).
Ecology: —Rare; terrestrial or hemiepiphytic, in humid forests; 800–2100 m.
Notes: —Sterile plants may be confused with Polybotrya , but A. ochropteroides has more finely divided blades than any sympatric species of that genus. Also, it lacks the characteristic rhizome anatomy of Polybotrya as seen in cross-section (several round circularly arranged meristeles, each surrounded by a black sclerenchymatous sheath).
